Hide, Comrade! - Ubisoft Game Lab 2021

This summer, the government puts party gone wild to an end-- or do they?

Hide, Comrade! was our team's contribution to the annual Ubisoft Game Lab of 2021. The theme this year was appart together, which took the form of a dystopic world where comrades just want to party and where the robot police don't like parties. I contributed to the project as the 3D character artist and Animator, but it was also a lot of fun learning how to work first hand in Unity!

We ended up winning the "Jury's Special award"! The project also got nominated for "Best Game Design", "Best Creativity and Integration of the theme", "Best Technical Challenge and Innovation" and "Best Prototype". Thanks to everyone who participated, it was a blast and looking forward to work together again someday!

Trailer

Similar to the robot, the player also has bones to snap objects to when grabbed. The player also had a setup around the head to allow rotating the mouth and head from the center or from the sides.

The robot was designed to "store" players in his stomach when he caught them, along with other illegal items. To help with this, the robot has a bone that can be constrained to its hand and to a path to help throw the object in his... mouth? Face? Inside.

To better show the state of containers (full or empty), I made a bounce animation that could be used across the different containers as well as some unique closing animations like the bed.
